Afternoon Antiquing in Lafayette

Sept2019_Abbey_Lafayette_og

Sometimes stopping by a small town leads to an afternoon of North Jersey antiquing and chocolate, and that’s what I found when visiting Lafayette, New Jersey.

VISITING LAFAYETTE

Lafayette was originally founded around the Lafayette Foundry in 1836, which employed laborers. It resides right next to a creek, which is now surrounded by about a dozen antique shops and brick and mortar stores.

The Lafayette Mill Antique Center should be your first stop — but try not to get lost! You can find anything here — from furniture and housewares to antique war uniforms, comic books, collectables, and more.

Next, head over to Sweet Pea‘s for restored antique furniture, Sheep Thrills for gifts for all ages, or Gray Rabbit Antiques for unique finds.

Have a quick bite to eat at the Millside Cafe or have chocolate for lunch at The Chocolate Goat before you take a walk down the Sussex Branch Trail. The Shops at Lafayette also provide a more modern shopping experience, just down the road, once you’re done stepping back in time.

Stop by a farm stand on your way home for some fresh, local, North Jersey produce.
