Meet Our Amazing Team
Get to know the people behind the NJspots Community and what drives them to continue to push the boundaries of what New Jersey is about!
Born and raised in Sussex County, New Jersey, Virginia (@buewho) grew up in the Northwest region of the state. Always describing her backyard as the “place where it snows when the of the state gets rain” she was always a fanatic of people in the mountains. An avid snowboarder and lover of the outdoors, especially hiking, Virginia is honored to be the founder of NJspots.
Started in July 2015, with the purpose of sharing the great places in New Jersey, Virginia set out to prove the stereotypes of Jersey wrong (or at least most of them!). She is thrilled to be able to continue to share all different corners of the state through the NJspots community and meet creative people along the way.
When I started NJspots in 2015, I wanted to share the great views and places in New Jersey. I wanted to show people there was more to the Garden State other than the I-95 Corridor. I am grateful to have so many great friends around me that I wouldn’t have found, if it wasn’t for the great NJspots community.
As NJspots has grown over the years, Virginia has continued to strive to connect with more local organizations and continue to find new places and things to discover in New Jersey. With so many people looking to get to know more about New Jersey, Virginia continues to work on making more connections to bring the state of New Jersey closer together.

Abbey (@abbeydufoe) (a Pennsylvania native, oops) has found many things about New Jersey that she loves — including standing front row at Starland Ballroom, playing hockey in a ton of new rinks, and hiking to as many waterfalls as possible, even if they end up being 2 feet tall.
I love connecting with content creators all over the Garden State both online and through out meetups at the wild AND urban places there are to visit in New Jersey. I also am inspired every day to visit a new spot or explore a new take on an old spot based on what people are tagging!
Catch her outside every weekend as she explores everywhere from the mountains to the beach, collecting every free sticker (and piece of trash) possible. Don’t ask her what her favorite outdoor spot is — she’s been to 46 states and wouldn’t be able to pick!
Jimmy (@jimmykastner) was born and raised in Monmouth County, spending his childhood down the shore, in and around New York City, and up and down the Parkway. He has been into photography since 2004 and never leaves home without his camera. After living five years in Somerset County, and now residing in Hunterdon, Jimmy has covered a lot of ground in New Jersey, but he knows he has just barely scratched the surface.
Jimmy has been a great fan of NJspots and what they are doing in community building. He is excited to be the graphic designer for the team and is happy his work can be used to connect more people.
Mike (@mikescic) was born in the Bronx and moved to New Jersey at a young age. After living in several towns in what’s considered “North Jersey,” Mike has recently settled down in South-North Jersey… or is it Central Jersey? Mike is a professional photographer with more than a decade of experience capturing everything from weddings, grand openings and special events, to a gender-reveal lasagna.
Another BIG part of the NJspots Team is the Patrons that support us month to month. With their contributions, feedback, and passion for the NJspots community, they are a vital part to the heart of what we do. Without their help, we wouldn’t be able to do a lot of the exclusive events, content, and community building we do every day.
Interested in joining our team?
We are always looking for new contributors, project leaders, meetup hosts, and those passionate about New Jersey to share their favorite places. If this sounds like something you would want to do. Be sure to contact us.
