Once a week, we interview one of our Patrons or a photographer from our Slack community on NJspots.com!
We hope that you learn a new spot or new camera setup!
Who are you, and where in New Jersey are you from?
I’m Domenico Rocco, I’m a photographer and videographer currently residing in Howell, NJ.
What are the three best spots for photography in New Jersey, and why?
Personally, I love the Manasquan Reservoir, Princeton (by the University), and you can’t go wrong with the Jersey Shore of course.
What's your camera setup?
Currently using the Sony A7III with the Zeiss 55mm f1.8 for portraits, and the 24mm f1.4 GM lens for most other shots.
What's your dream piece of gear? Think big!
I’d love to get my hands on a Red Komodo 6k for video work! And for photo/video I’m really liking the specs on the new Canon EOS R5!
What's one bucket list photo of New Jersey you haven't gotten yet?
I eventually would like to go up to North Jersey to some more mountainous locations, or down far south by little Egg Harbor to get some nice marsh land shots.
One tip for aspiring photographers?
I would say never stop trying and learning. Watch many YouTube videos from your favorite creators and photographers and put it into practice for yourself. You’ll never get better without doing it for yourself over and over!
What's your favorite part of being a photographer?
“Photographer Feature” is an ongoing segment featuring our Patrons and Slack community members. Contact editor Abbey Dufoe for more information.
