Want To Find 2 New Places For NYC Photos?
Want To Shoot The Statue of Liberty?
What About One World Trade Center?
How About The Empire State Building?
All Of The Above?
In the NYC Upper Bay area, you find two nice spots to shot wonderful skyline scene. Check out these spots! Both spots are easy accessible by car. No Public transport. The spots are perfect to take sunrise, daylight and sunset pictures of the NYC Skyline from the New Jersey side of the Hudson River.
- 9/11 Tear Drop Memorial, NJ, Bayonne: Opening from dawn till dusk (I’ve never found the gate closed)
- NJ Port Pier (Port Jersey BLVD), Bayonne: This Pier is a Cargo Terminal, most of the area is a prohibited area (cargo/customs). In recent years, the Pier has been modernized. At the end of the Pier is a off-street area, perfect to park your car. The area between street and coastline looks like private, Signs: “No Trespassing” are easy visible. I decided to place my tripod next to the guard rail. Please visit at your own risk.
Planning Your Shoots:
May through July is the best time to take wonderful shots during Blue Hour and/or Sunrise. During that time, the sunrise will appear behind the Brooklyn Bridge. Both spots are very windy! A massive tripod and weights are recommended. For closeup’s, a focal length >300mm (FullFrame) is recommended.
If you are looking for resources or apps to use to help plan your shoot with angles, sun angles, and more, I often used the Photopills App. Also be sure to check out some other helpful photo editing apps that are described right on this blog.
