If you are looking to escape to a quaint lake community, Lake Mohawk located in Sparta, New Jersey is the place for you to explore.
Explore the lakeside community
Originally built as a Dutch-German community, Lake Mohawk has history written all over it. The focus of the community is the Plaza located at the northern section of the lake.
With several shops, restaurants, and bars located in the Plaza, there is something to do for everyone.
There’s a boardwalk that runs along part of the lake in the Plaza, which boasts some great restaurants. You can enjoy the country club, which also hosts its fair share of events. There are some fine dining options available as well.
Visit any time of year
Lake Mohawk provides a great escape anytime of the year with beautiful summer sunsets, local events including water-skiing shows, winter festivals around Christmas time, and a great setting for any summer day.
Different than its southern counterpart in Lake Hopatcong, Lake Mohawk has a very specific set of rules for boats that are allowed on the lake. With no power motor boats allowed, the lake is much more tranquil and quieter during the summer months. It’s a great time to enjoy the sunshine and watch fireworks from the lake in July.
Stick around for sunset
Visiting this spot during the summer months will bring a great adventure. Also, don’t forget to stick around for a summer sunset. The view from the boardwalk is a perfect vantage point facing the western skies.
