Hit the Trail with NYNJTC’s Hike of the Week

New Jersey is filled with trails — both long and short! — to get you exploring from the mountains to the shore. Whether you’re a fan of cliff side hikes that lead to waterfalls, or winding walks in the woods, New York-New Jersey Trail Conference’s Hike of the Week will get you started on all the Garden State has to offer.

We partner with a few organizations to feature all that New Jersey brings to the table, and this week we want to introduce the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference.

About New York-New Jersey Trail Conference

If you’ve been hiking in North Jersey, chances are you’ve been on a NYNJTC-maintained trail!

Hike of the Week

Every week, NYNJTC features a hike in, you guessed it, New York or New Jersey, to showcase the beauty of the trails! For the Hike of the Week this week, we headed out to Mills Reservation in Cedar Grove after a fresh snow to check out a panoramic overlook that this 1.5 mile loop offers.

There are many trails in Mills Reservation, but the white loop takes you around the woods and to the overlook, where on a clear day you can see New York City!

Be sure to go back and visit during every season — the forest will surely look different as the spring blooms come in and the leaves fall.

Hike New Jersey

You don’t have to look too far for more from NYNJTC. We’ve covered many Trail Conference-maintained hikes on NJspots:

What’s your favorite NYNJTC hike? Let us know in the comments!

NJspots helps residents and visitors discover cool, unique, and beautiful places to explore in New Jersey. Many adventures land you on trails maintained by the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer-powered organization that builds, maintains, and protects public trails. NJspots encourages us to give back to our partner organization who helps us connect with nature.

We’ve set a goal of $1,000 to benefit the trails and the natural areas we share. Help us meet and exceed our goal!

The Trail Conference protects 741 miles of trails in New Jersey through trail maintenance and construction, ecological stewardship, conservation, and advocacy needed to help the Garden State live up to its name. New Jersey has plenty to offer for trail users of all types, and we’re growing new opportunities every year — your support will help our ongoing efforts!
