Among New Jersey’s many gems is Grounds For Sculpture, a botanical garden and art exhibit in one. Located on the former NJ State Fairgrounds, it features larger than life pieces of art that will make you feel tiny in comparison. With 42 landscaped acres and over 270 sculptures to explore, it’s easy to get lost, but that’s arguably the best way to explore. You might even run into some wildlife along the way!

The rare white peacock…I was lucky enough to see one🔝 🖤Fun Facts🖤 “White peacocks are not albinos. Albino animals and birds have a complete lack of color and red or pink eyes. White peafowl have blue eyes. The white color appears in other domestically bred peafowl but in different quantities. Any patches of white would make the bird more visible to predators. The theory is that in the safety of being in captivity, their recessive coloration genes have emerged. “ (http://animals.mom.me/white-peacock-bird-information-4981875.html) . . . . . . . #eye_spy_birds #picturetokeep_birds_animals #nature_worldwide_birds #birds_adored #marvelouz_world #explore_nature #nature_perfection #allwhiteeverything #gn_photos #pixnpieces #bpa_arts #birds_captures #cic_closer #asi_es_fauna #gotd_2066 #gramoftheday #fyp_117_frame #jj_texture_white #jj_forum_2329 #raw_animals
Grounds For Sculpture is truly a place for the senses. Guests are invited to lightly touch the sculptures to feel the different materials that they’re composed of, and observe how each work of art fills the space it’s placed in. Down each path and around every corner, a new sculpture awaits, even where you least expect to find one. Where there isn’t a sculpture, there’s beautiful landscapes, picturesque ponds, and just fresh air to enjoy. Some of my favorite pieces from my excursion include The Awakening by Seward Johnson and The Dance by Henri Matisse.
This is the perfect place to spend the day outdoors with friends and family. There are cafes with snacks and beverages and Rat’s Restaurant available on site, or you can visit one of the various restaurants that are located within a 5-mile radius from the grounds. Tickets to the grounds are issued for a specific date and arrival time, but you can stay for as long as you’d like.
